Mirror cards and practice log

Print these and keep them where you put your lenses in. Each one prints on a single page. They're a reminder, not a replacement for your fitter's instructions.

Putting your lens in

  1. Wash and dry your handsPlain soap, lint-free towel.
  2. Check the lensNo chips or deposits. Peroxide soak finished.
  3. Lens on the inserterHollow side up, like a bowl.
  4. Fill to the brimPreservative-free saline, until it domes.
  5. Face parallel to the floorLook straight down into the mirror.
  6. Hold both lids wideAt the lash line. Both eyes open.
  7. Straight up, one motionLook into the lens. Keep going until it settles.
  8. Pull back, let go, blinkInserter straight back. Blink gently.

Then check, every time:

Light no bubble · Vision clear with the other eye covered · Comfort no soreness

Any check fails? Take it out, refill to the brim, reinsert.

Never: tap water, saliva, multipurpose solution in the bowl, or peroxide that hasn’t finished neutralizing.

Remove the lens and call your eye doctor today for:

Sudden or severe eye pain · Vision that gets worse and doesn’t clear · New sensitivity to light · Yellow or green discharge · Redness getting worse quickly

Taking your lens out

  1. Wash and dry your handsTowel on the counter, drain covered.
  2. Drop of artificial tearsHelps loosen the seal.
  3. Remover, not inserterThe small cup.
  4. Lower third of the lensNever the center.
  5. Press until it gripsGently.
  6. Pull outwardThe lower edge lifts and the seal breaks.
  7. Rub, rinse, store20 seconds each side. Fresh solution. Never water.

Won’t come out?

Stop pulling. Another drop of tears, wait a minute, plunger on the lower third, try again. Still stuck after a few gentle tries? Call your eye doctor. Never sleep in it.

Every night: empty the case and use fresh solution. Never top off. Replace the case every 3 months.

14-day practice log

Fill in each eye every day and bring this to your follow-up. “Tries” means attempts until the lens was in (or out) correctly. Only one lens? Use just that eye’s rows.
